About

Why I built this

Baseline is a tennis prediction model with a public, graded record. I built it, and I grade it in the open.

The facts

  • Lifelong competitive tennis player; two-time state champion.
  • A.B. in Economics, Princeton, with a minor in finance — studies focused on advanced econometrics and statistical methods. Graduated with highest honors, at the top of my class.
  • Built this model throughout my final two years in college, nights and weekends.
  • Now working in a quantitative field of finance in New York.

The itch

Tennis betting content has a culture problem. Touts post their winners, delete their losers, and sell records nobody can check. The incentive is to look right, not to be right — and the two come apart fast when nobody is keeping score.

I spent years on the other side of that: building a model, testing it against the sharpest closing lines, and watching most of my own clever ideas die under honest evaluation. What survived was narrower than I'd hoped and more useful than I expected — a calibrated fair line, and a repeatable way to find the books that stray from it.

The conviction behind Baseline is simple: a model's claims should be checkable by strangers. Every pick logged before the match, graded against the close, kept forever — the record is the product, and I wanted the version of this site that I could never find as a customer. So I built it.

What we don't do

  • No touts.
  • No deleted picks.
  • No juiced records.
  • No ads, no affiliate links.
  • No claim that we beat the sharpest line.

Outbound sportsbook links on this site carry no affiliate tags — no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored content. Nobody pays us to point you anywhere.

The honest scope

We don't beat Pinnacle — nobody reliably does. We find the books that disagree with it, and we grade every pick against the close, publicly — the receipts, including what we got wrong. The one quantified claim we make is scoped and confidence-intervaled, and a pre-committed kill-gate retires it automatically if the forward record goes flat.

The ledger →

Every flagged pick, graded against the vig-free Pinnacle close. Append-only: corrections are added, never painted over.

The receipts →

The calibration record — what we predicted vs. what happened, misses included — and the kill-gate we pre-committed to.

Baseline is an independent project. It is not affiliated with any sportsbook, and nothing on this site is betting advice.

Don't take my word for it — make your own decision.
